Personal Electronic Device Policy
Personal electronic devices (phones, smartwatches, earbuds, etc) cannot be used during class time in the classroom, hallways, media center nor bathroom. Students may use their devices during transitions and at lunch.
Options for students/teachers
Students can choose to place cell phone in pocket chart (locked cabinet) prior to class starting if it will help them avoid temptation of looking at their phone
If students choose to keep their cell phone on them (not visible), they are doing so with the understanding that if it is seen it will be confiscated.
Devices will be confiscated if student uses in hallway or bathroom DURING class.
Announcements made for the first week (or longer) after each warning bell to remind students of the expectation and option available to them.
Consequences
1st offense: Confiscation of the device until the end of the school day and a parent or guardian conference can be held. Student must sign and agree to the Electronic Device Misuse Contract.
2nd offense: Confiscation of the device for 10 school days. The device will be released to the parent or guardian after a conference.
3rd offense: Confiscation of the device for 30 school days. The device will be released to the parent or guardian after a conference.
4th offense: Confiscation of the device for the remainder of the semester. The device will be released to the parent or guardian after a conference.
