
Multilingual Learner Department’s upcoming Parent Outreach Workshop, is scheduled for Saturday, October 26 at ILHS. This workshop is designed to equip parents of ML students with the tools and information they need to support their children, particularly in navigating the challenges of adolescence.

The Career Center hosted all district CTE teachers and industry representatives for the fall Advisory Committee meeting on Wednesday, October 16. This was the first time since Covid this meeting has been held in person. It was nice to be back with fellow CTE instructors and industry representatives to share about our programs and needs in the workforce.

Machine Tool Technology Level 3 students had the opportunity to visit FN America in Columbia, SC as an industry visit for their program. FN America is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of high quality firearms for military, law enforcement, and commercial customers worldwide.

Today was round 2 of 8th grade tours! We welcomed Buford Middle School 8th graders to the Career Center! Students were able to visit classrooms and shops and learn more about programs that will be available to them as high school students! We look forward to welcoming some of these students back next year as brand new Career Center students!

EMS students were getting more familiar with where things are located in the back of the truck and also hands-on practice with equipment in preparation for beginning ride alongside, which will start this week.

The Administrative Support Technology class went on a field trip to experience the “office life” at the AkzoNobel operation in Lancaster, S.C. on October 10th. The students prepared questions for a one-on-one meeting with a selected leadership team member from the company. The questions explored the individual careers, company expectations, skills utilized, technologies/software employed, communications, and teamwork at AkzoNobel.
The Administrative Support Technology class is the second level in the Administrative Services career path. The third level of this career path is the “Entrepreneurship” course.
