Teacher Cadet Maddi recently brought history to life at Buford Elementary with an engaging, hands-on lesson about Eli Whitney and the cotton gin!

Students didn’t just learn - they experienced it. Using real cotton as a prop, Maddi encouraged student groups to explore, touch, and brainstorm how the cotton gin changed the way cotton was processed and impacted society.

This interactive lesson, titled “King Cotton,” sparked curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful discussion in the classroom.

We are so proud of our Teacher Cadets for creating memorable learning experiences and inspiring the next generation! 🍎✨

🚓 Law Enforcement Services students and their SkillsUSA team participated in an outstanding day of hands-on training on March 3rd!

Students received valuable instruction and practical experience in first responder medical (Stop The Bleed training), patrol incident response, crime scene investigation, search techniques, handcuffing procedures, and case law. These real-world learning opportunities continue to strengthen their knowledge, confidence, and career readiness in the field of law enforcement.

🚔 Law Enforcement Services students recently had the opportunity to attend their first industry visit of the semester to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Lancaster County Courthouse, and Training Facility!

Students spent the entire day across all three locations receiving informational briefings, guided tours, demonstrations, and hands-on exposure to various areas within the field of law enforcement. Their experience included learning about Crime Scene Investigations, the Training Facility, Training Village, K-9 operations, the Traffic Section, the hiring process, and participation in the Shoot/No-Shoot Simulator.

This was an outstanding opportunity for our students to gain real-world insight, career exposure, and meaningful hands-on learning directly from professionals in the field.

A sincere thank you to Sheriff Faile for opening his office to the students of the LCSD Career Center, and to all of the deputies and staff who helped make the day possible through their time, support, and coordination.

We truly appreciate your continued partnership and investment in the future of our students! 👮

Firefighting students completed a "control a pressurized flammable container fire" training. They improvised by using a metal stack in place of a container. Students had to flow water onto the tank to keep it cool from the uphill and upwind side with a 30 degree fog pattern to keep flames away from the valve while the commanding officer guides them in to shut off the valve.

🚔 The Ambush Club’s March presentation was led by Sergeant Matthew Beach of the Rock Hill Police Department’s Public Integrity Unit.

During his presentation, SGT Beach shared valuable insight with our mentees on the importance of understanding their ultimate goals in life and how every decision they make should help move them closer to those goals. He also spoke about self-motivation, maintaining high expectations for yourself, building strong employment skills, the importance of community involvement, and why integrity is a must-have quality in both life and leadership.

Thank you, SGT Beach, for taking the time to invest in the young men of the Ambush Club and for sharing your wisdom, encouragement, and real-world perspective with our students. Your words made a meaningful impact! 🚨
