Horticulture students recently planted apple trees on campus. The project was completed in collaboration with the Leaf & Petal Garden Club. The orchard was established to honor the memory of Gregg Shipston, former culinary arts instructor at LCSD Career Center. The apple trees were chosen as a fitting tribute to his career as a chef and teacher. A plaque with the following inscription was placed in the orchard: "With Every Deed You Are Sowing Seed, Though The Harvest You May Not See" - Remembering Gregg Shipston Leaf & Petal Garden Club

Mrs. Davis', Family and Consumer Science students began one of their favorite units this week...food and nutrition! Students spent the week discussing wellness and the components of "My Plate". As a class, they chose what they wanted to cook for lunch and the overwhelming response was quesadillas! On last Friday, they made homemade cheese quesadillas, pico de gallo, and guacamole. Many students had never had guacamole made from fresh avocados. They were pleasantly surprised and mentioned that they would have never tasted something like that on their own Way to go students!!
